The meeting was informed that approximately 4.7 billion online scam attempts have been recorded since 2022, a concerning figure that demands swift and coordinated action. To address this, the government has agreed to expand the NSRC’s scope to cover all forms of cybercrime and establish a 24-hour response network operated comprehensively by various government agencies.

The NSRC’s enhancement will involve leveraging local expertise, cross-agency coordination, and increasing manpower resources. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will expedite the implementation of the NSRC’s new structure, ensuring its role is clear and accessible to the public. A “no wrong door” approach will also be adopted to streamline complaint and assistance processes.

Anwar urged all agencies to adopt a proactive and forward-thinking approach to provide comprehensive protection for the public. He also emphasized the need to continuously strengthen the nation’s cyber defenses at both domestic and international levels to enhance cybersecurity resilience.
