“This is a significant achievement that helps prevent further confrontation in the region,” he said.

Sheikh Tamim informed Anwar that despite Qatar’s challenging position amid the conflict, he prioritized regional peace. Anwar expressed admiration for the Emir’s resolve and sincerity in supporting peace efforts, including Qatar’s ongoing mediation in ceasefire talks between Palestine and Israel.

The Qatari leader also revealed he had discussed the peace initiative with U.S. President Donald Trump, urging the United States to focus on halting the genocide in Gaza and fostering a just, lasting peace.

Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to supporting peace efforts grounded in justice and sovereignty.

“Honest negotiations that respect every nation’s rights are essential for building enduring peace in the region and beyond,” he emphasized.

The Malaysian government will continue to back diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a fair and sustainable resolution to conflicts in the Middle East, Anwar added.
